The Machine Kingdom

Malia
Research

Four laboratories
Proposed programs

The four
laboratories.

MALIA is structured like a research institution and aimed like an engineering company. Every agenda here terminates in a machine, a mission, or a verified result — not a slide.

The institution — open problems, long horizons, and the discipline to say what is not yet known.

The company — biological principle → engineering requirement → machine. The pipeline has one direction.

The method — evolution is not our aesthetic. It is our research methodology.

(01) — Laboratory

GENOME

Mandate

The computational biological engineering library: a searchable map from organism → adaptation → physical principle → mathematical model → simulation → candidate machine architecture.

Priorities

  1. 01Encode locomotion, adhesion, sensing, manipulation, collective behaviour, energetics and structural adaptations into comparable engineering representations.
  2. 02Simulation and digital-twin workflows that test a biological principle before specialized hardware is fabricated.
  3. 03AI-assisted literature mining and design search to find cross-species solutions to engineering constraints.

(02) — Laboratory

INSTINCT

Mandate

The embodied intelligence laboratory underneath every kingdom: intelligence that survives changes in body, sensor set and environment, rather than a new brain trained from scratch per robot.

Priorities

  1. 01Cross-embodiment perception, planning and transferable world representations.
  2. 02LEXICON machine communication and ORACLE multi-agent belief fusion.
  3. 03Manipulation, continual learning, degraded-GPS navigation and uncertainty-aware autonomy.

(03) — Laboratory

NUCLEUS

Mandate

Energy and endurance: how machines remain useful for dramatically longer without human servicing. Batteries, power electronics, autonomous charging, thermal management and energy-aware behaviour — with any long-duration power research conducted only with licensed institutions.

Priorities

  1. 01High-density and mission-adaptive power architectures for field robotics.
  2. 02Autonomous charging, docking, power sharing and energy-aware fleet scheduling.
  3. 03Long-horizon study of extreme-endurance sources and thermal systems with regulated partners.

(04) — Laboratory

EXO

Mandate

Extraterrestrial systems: proven technology from the six kingdoms redesigned for the Moon, Mars and other extreme environments. A long-range research direction, not a near-term revenue story.

Priorities

  1. 01Autonomous exploration under long communication delays and intermittent links.
  2. 02Mobility and manipulation in regolith, caves, extreme temperatures and unstructured terrain.
  3. 03Cooperative robotic infrastructure, distributed science and maintenance before or alongside human arrival.

(05) — Beyond the laboratories

Proposed
programs.

Seven further agendas under study inside the labs and kingdoms. Each is a direction, not a deliverable.

One shared architecture underneath — MALIA OS, top to bottom

  1. L1INSTINCTPerception, navigation, reasoning, planning and learning
  2. L2PHYSIS + ORACLEShared physical state, sensor fusion and uncertainty
  3. L3LEXICONCommunication across different intelligent machines
  4. L4COLONYCoordination, task allocation and fleet management
  5. L5AXIOMAuthorization, safety checks and intervention controls

(06) — Flagship research program

LEXICON·ORACLE

Machines that say only what matters — compact learned messages fused into one shared belief about the world. Read the technical hypothesis.

(07) — A note on status

Everything on this page is a proposed research agenda — work MALIA is organized to pursue, not capability it claims to hold. None of it is a finished system, a fielded product, or a published result. The laboratories exist to change that, in order.
